September Food Foraging Weekend
Sept 15th & 16th - £185 per person per night including Dinner Bed & Breakfast (based on two sharing a room)
Spend two days foraging for wild food in the forests of Barcaldine and Lochaber. This experience will be guided by expert Dick Peebles a renowned mycologist and expert food forager.
At the end of this event you can expect to confidently identify at least half a dozen wild mushrooms for the table. The forests surrounding Barcaldine House Hotel are rich in wild produce and mushrooms, and once gathered will be taken to the kitchen where you can learn how to prepare these delights in our award winning two AA Rosette kitchen.
Dick was one of the first to develop this new market in 1994. An avid naturalist and enthusiastic mycologist, he left his job as a computer programmer in the oil business, then lost money in a fishing-boat venture and foraged for much of his food in the Scottish highlands while on the dole. He is now an authority on foraging and Director of WildFoods based in Glasgow (a supplier to Barcaldine House Hotel)
