Local Area around Barcaldine

Barcaldine House Hotel lies in the heart of the west coast of Scotland in North Argyll, just 12 miles away from the harbouring town of Oban.

The village of Barcaldine is a small, delightful settlement on the A828 between Oban and Fort William on the bonnie banks of Loch Creran. The nearby Barcaldine Castle was the home of the clan Campbell until the early 18th century when the family abandoned the castle for Barcaldine House, a comfortable alternative.

The next village south, just minutes away, before you get to Oban, is Benderloch where you can relax on the golden sands of Tralee Bay or hike up to the summit of Ben Lora for spectacular views of Argyll.

See here for more information on Oban itself, the Inner Hebrides, in particular the Isle of Mull or the western Highlands, in particular Fort William.
